Ann Ryan graduated from Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in Melbourne in 1987. Early years at the Alfred Hospital provided her with experience in a wide range of surgical, cardiorespiratory, neurological, road trauma and orthopaedic conditions. This was punctuated by a trip to Africa and on to Europe with close friend and future practice-partner, Robin Halse, working in the UK to help fund her travel.
Ann moved to private practice in 1992, broadening this work as a clinical educator at the University of Melbourne from 1993-2003. In 1999 Ann completed her Master of Physiotherapy (Manipulative Physiotherapy), enabling registration as a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. She has also studied Clinical Pilates and has been an instructor since 2004.
In 1998 Ann joined Robin in forming Kooyong Physiotherapy Centre. Having worked with both Mel Foley and Fiona Milne there for years the decision to develop Spring Physio Gym was a natural step.
Ann has built on her experience and further study to develop a special interest in complex spinal treatment and rehabilitation, for which posture, core strengthening and movement correction are a particular interest. She has also been involved as a clinician with several research projects at the University of Melbourne and as an independent opinion practitioner for AHPRA.
In her spare time Ann enjoys horse riding, walking and yoga. She adores southern France where she travels with her family regularly.
