The Adolescent Strengthening Program focuses on muscular strength, power and control, flexibility, balance, jumping and landing and agility for those aged 10-18 years old.
Benefits of this class
Strength training has been illustrated to have many benefits for adolescents, including improved muscular power and strength, aids in injury rehabilitation and prevention, improved bone health, mental health benefits and can help contribute to improvements in overall sporting performance.
Why strength is important
Many of the physiotherapists across both Spring and Kooyong have noticed many adolescents playing one or more sports across the year. While it is great to have so many young people fit and active, deficits in muscle strength or control is potentially putting them at risk of injury or reinjury when playing sport.
Using the gym at Spring, this program aims to help prevent injuries in adolescent individuals by reducing any strength deficits that may leave them vulnerable for injury in the future.
